A general hospital located at 99 Seodongmun-ro (Geumgok-dong), Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, opened in 1909.
On October 1, 1909, Andong Sanctuary Hospital, which started as a temporary home for an American missionary, began with the inauguration of missionary AG Fletcher as the first hospital director. Later, in 1912, missionary RK Smith was appointed as the second hospital director and donated $10,000 to build Cornelius Baker Memorial Hospital at its current location in 1914. At this time, Cornelius Baker Memorial Hospital treated more than 2,600 patients per year, and was built as a three-story red brick building, which was rare at the time, and was considered a local landmark.
Andong Sanctuary Hospital, which had been operating while practicing the love and service of Christ even in the difficult environment of the Japanese colonial era, was closed in the aftermath of World War II in 1941. During the Korean War (Korean War) in 1950, the hospital facility (Cornelius Baker Memorial Hospital) was bombed by the U.S. Air Force and suffered great hardship.
In 1953, the hospital resumed operation through the Aerin Clinic, which was temporarily built at the entrance of Seongseo Theological Seminary (currently located in Building B of the new building of Andong Seongso Hospital) and continued its mission of medical missionary work. Afterwards, in 1956, with material support from the American Aid to Korea (AFAK) and sponsorship from the Missionary Society, a new two-story building was built and relocated to the current hospital location, and the operation of the hospital was normalized. With the establishment of a foundation in 1968, Gyeongan Presbytery acquired property rights and management rights from the American Mission, and was approved as a general hospital in 1981, maintaining continuous growth.
In the early 1990s, it suffered a management difficulties, but since the Myeongseong Church acquired management rights in 1994, it has continued to grow as it has been built and expanded.
